The small state of Uttarakhand has made great strides in manufacturing since its inception in November 2000. The sector registered an average annual growth rate of 21.8% over 2004 - 05 & 2014 - 15. Manufacturing today contributes close to 30% to the State GDP.

Haridwar is the largest industrial area accounting for 60% of the investments. Given the significance of Haridwar as a strong industrial destination, Industrial Expo has in the past attracted Pan India participation. In the last edition held in 2014, participation was from 15 States including – Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhaya Pradesh, Maharashtra, New Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.
